The AC500-eCo V3 is ABB's compact, entry-level PLC platform, built on the same proven footprint as the earlier eCo V2 range but with more memory, more processing power and more onboard I/O. It's aimed at applications ranging from small standalone machines up to more demanding control tasks, without the cost or complexity of a larger PLC platform.
The range adds broader fieldbus support and secure cloud connectivity options, and is programmed through ABB's Automation Builder engineering suite using the standard IEC 61131-3 languages — so existing AC500 programming knowledge carries straight across. SMS supplies the eCo V3 range with starter kits (including an HMI touchscreen option) to help new users get up and running quickly.
